There has been a Meikles office in Sedgefield since the late 1800s, established at Sedgefield House in the West End and moving to its present location at 7 High Street in the heart of the town in 1963. Meikles is the only solicitor's firm in Sedgefield, serving the Sedgefield area, Fishburn, the Trimdons, Stockton, Hartlepool and beyond.
We advise on most legal matters, including all family and financial issues as well as a full service for those wishing to buy, sell or remortgage their home. We also prepare wills and Home Information Packs at very competitive rates.
We specialise in mental health law, travelling to hospitals across the north east to represent clients from Northumberland to South Yorkshire.
We offer a free first consultation and can arrange home visits for clients who are unable to get to our office.
Elizabeth Forrest LL.B (Partner) began her career as an Articled Clerk at our Barnard Castle office in 1993, transferring to our Sedgefield office in 1995. Elizabeth has a wide experience in relation to divorce, separation and children matters as well as having spent many years acting for clients who are buying, selling or remortgaging their home. Elizabeth acts for many clients in the locality assisting them with the preparation of wills, applying for probate and administering estates following a death, she also has experience in mental health law. Elizabeth became a Partner in 2002.
Jackie Schofield LL.B has been with the firm for several years, initially as a para legal, then as a trainee until she qualified as a solicitor in 2008. She is experienced in a wide range of legal issues with particular interest in family, child care and domestic violence. Jackie is also able to assist in the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney, relating to the management of personal and financial affairs.
Mike Wilson LL.B (Consultant) started as an Articled Clerk with the firm in 1974, later becoming a Partner based at Sedgefield. He retired from the Partnership in 2002 and now works as a consultant in relation to mental health law. Mike is a member of the Accredited Mental Health Review Tribunal Scheme and represents clients throughout the North East.
